I have a few minor criticisms which really should make my rating 4.5, but I rounded up: What I found distracting in the book was that there were a few places where the font was at the default one. Our brains have been trained to see font changes as an attention getter, so random font changes can hold up the reading process a bit. There were several places where beat was used instead of beet. A spell checker would not have caught this; it needs an editor's eye. (My English Composition professor accused me of being an English teacher in a former life, so maybe I am more picky about this than others. lol.)
I know the book says that it is not scientifically based, BUT I don't think information that is incorrect scientifically should be shared. Apple seeds are not bad for you if they are organic. As long as you only get seeds from a few apples per day, they give you vitamin B17, (Laetril), which is used to fight cancer. Old information said that apple seeds and apricot kernels, etc contained a natural form of cyanide or arsenic. They do, but not the kind found in rat poison and it is not used by the body in the same way. Amygdalin has it bound up with a couple sugar molecules and benzaldehyde. It is not bio-available to normal healthy cells, since they have enzymes that will add sulfur to it and neutralize it if the sugars are removed. It is only harmful to abnormal cells. I learned about this in Human Physiology in college recently. Here is a site where a man commented that he ingested a whole cup of apple seeds and did not see the effects of cyanide poisoning. He said you will vomit first. [...]This woman says it all, everything I learned about the apple seeds in college, please watch: [...] I suggest either deleting the statements about apple seeds being bad for you or looking up the more recent studies not sponsored by major drug companies, who want you to buy their drugs instead, once you have cancer. If you want to avoid the controversy, I understand; just delete the statement that they are bad for you. I eat apple seeds and apricot kernels on a fairly regular basis after I had a tumor to avoid recurrence of cancer. They have an almond taste, but way more bitter. I don't eat more seeds than what I would consume by eating the fruit in a day, say enough to be in 4-6 pieces of fruit.
2. I like that the names of the recipes are what they fix i.e. "Kick a Virus"
3. Missing the all important # of carb grams per serving, # of servings, calories, fiber etc. (I'm a type 1 Diabetic and need to know this)or else it's too much of a bother to look everything up.
4. Very little medical information on what the veggies or fruits cure or what can be added to the juice i.e. Hemp Powder, Pomegranate Powder. I know these are juicing recipes and not smoothies but still.
5. Book is a little "lite" in content but has a lot of recipes-more recipes than I find in other amazon juicing books.
6. Love that you can "Loan" the book to someone! That's a great way to Market and get more sales/presence.
7. Would like to see tips on where to shop, how to store all the veggies for the week (i.e. plastic bags ok or plastic containers? I hate plastic by the way). Tips on keeping the veggies fresh in the fridge. Prep tips etc.
8. I would love a chapter for Diabetics with all recipes with the same amount of carbs or the # of carbs listed. *See #3 above. What impact does juicing have on insulin. A plant based diet and juicing-while it contains carbs actually lowers the level of insulin needed in many cases.
9. The logos next to the juicing recipe ingredients don't show up and they look like little weird boxes that say "logo" (I think?)

I looked at several juicing books, and never took it further than that. Many are just lists of recipes, completely overwhelming me with information without facts or data to back them up. I found this book, Juicing Recipes, through Drew's Facebook page, and I'm so glad I did. Not only does it offer a lot of varied recipes, he actually takes the time to explain WHY you would want to drink each drink, WHEN an ideal time to drink it is, and for WHAT purpose.
I started out by juicing 3 times per day, based on the following: morning/pre-workout drink, after work energy drink, night-time relax/sleep drink. I was able to find several recipes in his book that fit those requirements I laid out, found which ones I prefer and stuck to those for about a month. Now I'm starting to branch out into more exotic recipes.
It's only been about a month that I've been juicing, but already I notice a distinct change in the pooch, it's actually going away! I no longer drink a cup of coffee in the morning, I drink a glass of juice, and I feel totally energized. This book helped motivate me, and helped me accomplish a routine that I can actually follow. I highly recommend this book: I downloaded it for the free Kindle app on my iPad/iPhone, and also on the free Kindle reader for my PC - another positive is you can search for words (ingredients you have, or situations such as pre-workout).
Now I'm thinking of getting a 2nd juicer to bring into work, so I can juice there as well. This has really opened my eyes and helped me get past that plateau I was stuck at due to diet. Please do yourself a favor and at least read the book, you'll be glad you did.

I Love how it cuts the crap and is easily laid out with the fundamentals without getting to complex and I always enjoy how I learn something new about what I am eating. Bottom Line if you want to get in the best shape of your life this guy knows what he is talking about. He isn't a Dr or a nutrition expert, but better still he is someone who actually practices what he preaches and the results speak themselves which I respect.
Great little book, highly recommend it, buy it, change your eating habits and change your life style for a better.
